City of Nawabs and kababs that Drives all along!

Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, thrives along the banks of Gomti river. The Gomti river originates from Fulhaar Jheel (Gomat Talab) which is 3km east of Pilibhit district, and flows southwards through Lucknow, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Faizabad and Jaunpur before merging with the river Ganga near the holy city of Varanasi. In particular, the city was famous for its Adab and Tehzeeb (manners and hospitality), intricate embroidery, beautiful gardens and dance forms such as Kathak. It was also one of the major sites of the 1857 Indian Mutiny (or the First War of Indian Independence). The Hindi spoken in Lucknow is considered the most mellifluous and full of alacrity.

Lucknow is also known for its elaborate cuisine and Chikankaari or exquisite shadow-work embroidery on fine muslin cloth.
It was the point at which the British came to India that Lucknow was made into an authoritative capital. There were numerous uprisings amid the British standard by Indian radicals and numerous terrible episodes left Lucknow scarred with offensive recollections. The delicious Rice Kheer

Ingredients:

Cooked Rice – 1 cup
Whole Milk – 2 cups
SugarFree Natura – 3 tbsp or to taste
Raisins – 1 tbsp
Chopped Pistachios – 1 tbsp
Chopped Almonds – 1 tbsp
Powdered Cardamom – 1/8 tsp
Saffron – a pinch

Method:

1. In a heavy bottomed pan, on medium heat, add in the the Milk and the Rice.
2. Grind the Saffron with a little bit of SugarFree Natura  and add it to the Milk.
3. Meanwhile, soak the Raisins in a little bit of water to help puff them up.
4. Keep stirring the pan and make sure it does not burn at the bottom.
5. Cook till it is of desired thickness.
6. Once it reaches the desired thickness, add in the SugarFree natura. Mix well.
7. Add in the Dry fruits – Raisins (without the water), Pistachios and the Almonds.
8. Turn off the flame and add in the Powdered Cardamom.
9. Serve hot or cold.

Tips:
1. If you are making the rice just for the Kheer, over cook the rice just a little.
2. This is a great recipe if you don’t have a lot of time but alternatively, you can add in raw rice and cook it in the milk and it tastes great. But be very careful and and keep stirring frequently.

Selfless love and pure devotion- Mother is the World!

A Jewish proverb which says," God could not be everywhere so he created mothers" beautifully sums up the feelings of one and all inhabitants of this beautiful world who are everyday blessed with this real divine angel whom we all fondly call as Mother.

She is the all wonderful, selfless and loving lady who would always care for her husband and her children before anything else.

I remember once when I had returned back home after my second semester examination and my train got delayed by almost six hours. It was 1 AM in midnight and still she opened the gate in one bell and almost came running to give me a hug that I can never actually forget.

She waited all this long through midnight just to make sure that I don't sleep on an empty stomach. She made fresh hot chappatis though I had insisted for innumerable times on phone that I will be late and will eat on the way in train.

She is the one who will look at up to you after you have taken the first bite of your food and would immediately push forward the box of salt just by your expressions without you even saying the word. She knows you inside out and their is nothing that you can hide from her.

Their is one particular incident that I fondly remember of my mother. 
It was during an holiday weekend that we were all planning for a sumptuous family dinner and she was all too excited to cook favorite dishes for all of us. When we sat to eat she was all happy to announce that she had cooked Matar-paneer-my fathers favorite dish, made stuff onion Naan- My sisters favorite and this all was going to be followed by Gazar ka halwa- my all time favorite. Their was an ultimate happiness in her eyes while serving these all dishes to us. 

Indeed my sister suddenly inquired what has she cooked for herself, she smiled for a moment, tore a bite from her plate and fed her in mouth. The twinkle in her eyes said it all. Her love is the recipe that makes everything so delicious and unforgettable.

Though my professional life I have been to innumerable five star hotels, veteran dhaba's and  prized eateries, yet still I have to find something more tasty that what she would cook for me everyday.

Their is no one more lovely and diving than a Mother and I am blessed to have her in my life.

A New Life Lesson from a Stranger!

It was my first day in a new city and I was feeling extremely alone and sad. I had to leave my friends, family and city for this dream job. It is not very easy to adopt in a new city and initial few days usually tend to be very tough. It becomes even harder when you have left so many memories, somewhere else.

However on my very first day, I had a small conversation with one person who changed my whole attitude and filled me with optimism.

It happened when I was travelling in an e-rickshaw. Since it is hard for me to keep quiet I always end up doing small talks whenever I am travelling and the first question that is good to start a conversation is to ask about the rent of the vehicle for a day and how much they end up earning.  It always works!

Me - Bhaiya, What is the average of this battery operated rickshaw?

Him - Around 100-150 Km, it all depends on the load, traffic and stuff.

(He used quite a few English words)

Me - Till what grade have you studied?

Him- I am a graduate.

Me - From where?

He was a bit hesitant to answer it but said- Allahabad University.

Me - So you tried for job or anything after that?

Him - I was pretty sure that you will ask it, but this is my job. Though it might not be prestigious but it pays well.

Me - How much do you earn approximately per day?

Him - At least 500-700.

Me - It is a very good amount I guess.

Him - Yep, I end up earning 18K per month plus I get around 20K from my tenants.

Me - Arey Waah!

Him - Bhaiya the thing is you might think why I am doing this job, but trust me it gives me satisfaction. I earn pretty well through it and in the end and earn around 40K per month which is good enough for me.

Me - Sure it is.

Him - You know people say a lot of things about me but I feel I should appreciate the job which is giving me money, the problem with our country is that we attach prestige to the job and prefer to sit idle than earn with our able hands.

Me - Yeah, you are right.

Him - Umm I used to be a property dealer but soon realized I was not earning way too much and I had to spend money on maintaining status. I am happier now though the prestige is not there but I live with luxury.

Me - I am sure if everyone learns from you, our country will move very fast.

Him - Bhaiya, for saying purpose it is good but even you were astonished to know that a graduate is driving a rickshaw. "Angrejo ki zanjeeray to chali gayi pata nahi ye soch ki kab jaengi" (Though we are free from the chains of slavery but don't know when will we get rid of this thought process).

His last word had me wondering about our mindset and existence. What if every one of us starts thinking like this? Won’t it curb the issues of unemployment to a large extent?

Indeed we are too absorbed with the social norms to think wisely, think differently. I consider myself no exception to this and only if I would have thought like him I might have not left my city, friends and family. It is indeed time to look-up with honor towards every profession.

No job is big or small. Every hand that earns its butter and bread is worth respecting. This is my look-up story that inspires me every day to think differently and respect everyone.

A Friend For Life!!!

Life is pretty complicated and you need friends to make it simple.

I am going to tell you about one of my friend who has been with me since my childhood.

We were neighbors at first and used to play together in colony every evening. We were in different schools but enjoyed each others company for whatever time we had after it. In class 6th I changed my school and we became classmates. From here started a journey of sharing notes, studying together, long bicycle rides, morning jalebi trails, evening coffee get-together and what not.

We remained classmates till the end of our schooling days i.e. Class 12th

Coaching Days:

After 12th boards many of our classmates moved to Kanpur for doing preparations of entrance examinations. Initially we had different hostels as I was living with one of our other classmate who was doing medical entrance exam preparation and he was also with one of our other classmate in another hostel. Though as luck would have it, soon all four of us shifted to same hostel.

The Unfortunate Incident:

One afternoon when I was studying in my room the owner of the hostel suddenly knocked at my door. As soon as I opened the latch, he moved inside and ordered me to step out for a moment. It was pretty normal as inspections were pretty common in our hostel. Though I realized this was something different as he was only checking my Room!

After 5 minutes he came out at lashed at me: "Quickly pack your bags and leave the hostel".

Needless to say I was shocked as hell. I knew I had made no such mistake. I tried reasoning with him but to no use. He wasn't even ready to tell me the reason.

Out of any option I started packing my bags. My friends were as shocked as me and were helping me out with it, though no body exactly knew what was required to be done.

With all my bag and baggage and accompanied by my friends I reached downstairs to hostel reception. I asked him one last time to at-least tell me what have I done. He gave me just a disgusted look in reply!

After much of persuasion it was told that somebody has pasted a letter full of abuses on the owners chair yesterday night and the pen and paper have matched with my belongings. He didn't show me the letter claiming it to be very embarrassing and rubbish and told me that the handwriting was also very similar to mine. I knew I haven't done it and tried reasoning with him.

Hostel Gathering

He also knew I was not at all the mischievous types and offered me to leave if I say that I have done this on my friends plan. He considered him naughty enough to do such things. Indeed I knew he wasn't also the culprit and anyways I can not take his name.

So finally I was thrown Out Of the Hostel!!!

Next Day:

I took shelter at one of my friends flat who was also living independently.

Next morning when I woke up I found two of my friends, including my childhood mate sitting in the room. Suddenly I noticed their baggage was also lying on the floor and it was then they informed me that they have also left the hostel in protest of my expulsion.

And We Are Still FRIENDS for Life!!!

And these were the words of my Childhood friend, "Do you really think you can get away from me because of some douche bag? I am always their with you and don't worry we will make him pay #together!"

If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!!!

It is easy to have a dream but it is entirely a different story when you decide to turn some dream in to a reality.

It is never a cakewalk. Traversing the unknown tributaries of unforeseen errors and issues and tackling one after the other is not what you can call cool and hip!

Certainly when I first thought of starting my own advertising agency I did had my share of inhibitions. I knew it was a risk, I knew there was a lot on stake but then nobody ever won without trying and I knew that this was something that I surely must try. So I went for it!

To begin with it is tough to convince the family when you are suddenly deviating from your expected line of specialization and getting in to something that they really don’t know much about. I mean what else one could expect in my situation. I was an IT engineer who after having only about some 10-11 months of experience was planning to open his own company, that too an Advertising Agency. Pretty fascinating!

Nevertheless a bit of drama, some persuasion and a few promises is all it took to secure their approval. I didn’t expect anything less!

So I zeroed on a first floor shop in a complex and did the muhurat on the first day of Navratra’s. Only a few of my friends were present for the occasion and I requested my parents to come only after we have really settled the office.  A few days went away in finding the proper furniture, arranging the computer system, getting the internet connection etc.

Now it was the time for hiring some necessary employees. I took my first interview in a CCD as the office wasn’t fully ready by now. It was for the post of graphic designer and I had posted on various facebook forums to advertise for it. Many of the CV’s came in and after initial telephonic rounds I called 3 people for the interview.

I had invited all three of them to CCD only at around half hour difference. The interviews went well and I finalized a girl who actually didn’t had much of an experience and thus was well within our budget. I thought she can learn well enough while working for us and as she knew the software’s and tools of designing it won’t be a problem to get the right work done with proper creative guidance. I wasn’t quite right but I didn’t have many options either.

So from here began a journey. A journey which has been full of up’s and down’s and a journey which is still on. But today when I look back I realize no matter what happens in future I have surely moved ahead from where I was and I will surely move ahead from where I am because that is what life is all about.

There is not one but many problems associated with starting a stat-up but there is not a single one of them that you and I cannot actually tackle. The Most Dangerous Animal on Earth!!!

In childhood, I once had a chance to visit a zoo. There were many wild animals in large, beautiful enclosure. Indeed there was a small concrete structure erected on the side of a lawn over which following words were written- The Most Dangerous Animal of the world.

Out of curiosity when I went in front of it there was just a mirror inside it. I could see nothing but my own reflection. At that time I was too young to understand its implications. Indeed gradually when I realized its significance I couldn’t agree more.

I remember a chapter in our English book which had a very beautiful paragraph which went something like this, “We have inherited this earth from our forefathers and have a responsibility to pass it to our children’s. We do not own it in anyways yet we harness it as though we were its masters. We have forgotten our responsibility to surpass it to coming generation. Development is necessary but sustainable development is the key”.

This paragraph indeed summarizes the whole story behind man becoming the animal that it never was. We are depleting earth and Mother Nature in a rate with which it can never reprimand.

We are nothing but a tenant on this earth. Our stake on earth comes with a responsibility of maintain it in its actual state. We are moving towards a future where their will soon be no future at all. And as one learned men once said, “When the last tree has fallen and the last food has been eaten and the last drop of water has been consumed that the Men will realize, he cannot eat money.”

With global warming, changing climate and worsening ecological balance the writing is on the walls
and hope we realize it sooner than later!

Life- The Beauty And The Beast!!!

Life is one of my Brain's favorite topic to think. My brain is actually addicted to it. It loves to stumble on one or the other thoughts about life every other day.

So today I was just thinking about the most basic question- the question of our existence.
Yes, Why do you think we really exist? Why do you think we live this life? Why?
Is it just because we were born and it is a crime to commit suicide. Or is it because we love this life( Like you have any other option!).

Ok, Seriously why do you think we live? We sleep, we eat, we work, we dream, we meet people, we love some, we hate some, we learn things, we visit places, we celebrate, mourn and what not. We do a lot of these things but for what reason?

I have been extremely satisfied by this life like that eternal bliss and all that stuff for more than once and also have felt betrayed more than that. Sometimes I really don't understand what this fuss is actually all about. Make friends, eat, sleep, love, laugh with them and at one point just let them go on the name of moving on.
And why not the dream career is calling us! So lets go and grab that golden stick and dance to its tunes for some pity bucks in our bank accounts at the end of the month, which indeed never seem to be enough.

Yeah, Moving On Is Life! Leaving out is life !

Some say life is about making a mark of our own. Leaving an impact in the world. Making a difference. However I think that mankind has already made enough mark, impact and difference as a whole that we need to really stop at that specific segment. We have created all the bombs that we can or we should or we should not, whatever, barred all those free flowing rivers for our never ending needs, depleted every forest that we can, killed more animals than they give birth to, yet we look to create something more something different.

No I am certainly not going to invent the wheel all over again, I am technically too handicap to create a facebook or Quora, I don't have resources to build a Tajmahal so what exactly should I do to make more sense of my life?

I feel like I have seen enough of this life in my little bit of 24 years of experience & I still sometime wonder over its existence. Do we all live to die? Or do we all live to live? I somehow feel that this term ' Living a Life' has been grossly exaggerated. Everyone want's to have a life or indeed people will suggest you to go get a life. I never discovered a different life in anything i did. Mortality of everything just rips me apart. It seems to me like a false notion, a gradually created myth, a rat race kind of thing where everyone is just trying to better the other one.
We don't have a certain goal. No, no one of us at all because everyone wants to reach their but their is no their!

So is life exactly a dilemma? No body certainly knows it but till then lets keep on looking for the answer while we just inhale & exhale.
